Student Guidelines

Students Approved for Testing at the ARC

This section is for students approved for accommodated testing at one of the following AccessAbility Resource Center (ARC) locations, as specified in their accommodation letter:

Important Steps

  1. Request accommodation letters as early as possible each semester via the AIM Student Portal. Be sure to select all testing accommodations when submitting your request.
  2. Meet with your instructors to discuss your accommodation letter and ensure your instructors complete the Alternative Testing Agreement (ATA) in the AIM Instructor Portal.You can only schedule through AIM Student Portal once your instructor has completed the ATA.
  3. Schedule your exams through the AIM Student Portal at least five days prior to each test.

Scheduling Policies

  • Schedule exams through the AIM Student Portal at least:
    • Five business days before quizzes and standard exams.
    • 10 business days before final exams.
  • Late exam requests will be denied unless you have prior approval from the ARC testing coordinator.
  • Schedule exams within the timeframe your instructor provides in the ATA. If you need to test outside the exam window, consult with your instructor before scheduling your exam.
  • You cannot modify requests within five business days of the exam, unless due to emergencies or class-wide changes.
  • Cancel in advance if you are unable to attend a scheduled exam.

Testing Hours

ARC Main Testing Room (AD 2.224)

  • Monday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday-Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

ARC Synergy Park Testing Room (SP2 11.175F)

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 3 – 5 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Check-in Procedures

  • Arrive no later than 15 minutes after your scheduled exam time. Late arrivals may be denied admission.
  • A physical Comet Card is required for check-in.

Prohibited Items

The following items are not permitted during testing unless specifically approved as part of an accommodation (this is not a complete list):

  • Heavy outerwear, hoodies or hooded shirts.
  • Hats, beanies or bandanas (except religious head coverings).
  • Backpacks, bags, purses, wallets, badge holders, keys.
  • Pencil cases or pouches.
  • Electronic devices (e.g., phones, smartwatches, headphones, etc.).

Students Approved for Testing Arranged by Faculty

Important Steps

  1. Request accommodation letters as early as possible each semester via the AIM Student Portal.
  2. Meet with your instructors to discuss your accommodation letter and confirm the testing location of your exams. This may include the UTD Testing Center or another distraction-reducedlocation arranged by your instructor.
  3. Remind your instructors of your alternative testing arrangements at least five business days before the exam. You may use the ARC Exam Request Form to help facilitate this conversation. Note: Submitting this form does not reserve a seat at the UTD Testing Center.

Scheduling Exams

  • Instructors must first set up the exam via RegisterBlast before you can schedule.
  • Follow the Student Guidelines on the Testing Center’s website to schedule exams via RegisterBlast.

Note: The UTD Testing Center operates independently of theARC. ARC staff do not have access to the Testing Center’s scheduling system and vice versa.

Important Reminders

  • Bring a copy of your accommodation letter each time you visit the Testing Center. It may be needed to verify your accommodations.
  • If your exam is online, confirm that your extended time has been applied before you begin. If it is incorrect, notify a proctor immediately.

Optional Aids for Distraction-Reduced Testing

  • Partitions – Email infotestingcenter@utdallas.edu three business days in advance to request; limited availability.
  • Preferential seating – Request during check-in; not guaranteed during peak hours.
  • Earplugs – Available upon request during check-in.
