Adaptive Technology

Adaptive technology provides equal access to information, resources or services. The AccessAbility Resource Center (ARC) offers adaptive support services for students with disabilities, such as audiobooks, adaptive software/hardware, alternative format materials and equipment loan.

Adaptive software and hardware are installed in various campus computer labs. In addition, the McDermott Library (MC 2.520) offers adaptive technology to UT Dallas students, faculty and staff. To gain access to the equipment, users must attend a short training session. For more information, call 972-883-2643.

Examples of adaptive technology include:

  • Screen reader software (JAWS)
  • Portable magnifiers
  • Computers
  • Speech recognition software
  • Screen magnification (Zoom Twix)
  • Listening devices
